How to create user from the terminal in Ubuntu (Linux)

Whether we are new users or appreciate the speed of commands sent via the terminal, it is sometimes necessary to create new users via the command line. In this guide we will see how to create a user from the terminal in Ubuntu (Linux).

This is particularly important when configuring a new server or a new VPS, creating a new user to replace the default one, perhaps sent to us via e-mail.

The command to create a new user is actually very intuitive and is the following:

adduser

For example, suppose you need to create a user named “bunny”. The command to use will be the following:

sudo adduser bunny

The Ubuntu terminal will then ask us to specify a password, asking us at the end to confirm the data entered.
